March 13 - Aledo ISD Update Regarding Travel & School Operations

Dear Bearcat Families,

I know our children and families are excited Spring Break is finally here! I hope all of you enjoy a safe and restful break next week.

This has been a very unique week and we are so grateful for our wonderfully supportive community during this time. We thank you for your patience and grace as we diligently worked through several difficult decisions that are impacting our students, staff.

Today, after consultation with Tarrant County Public Health Department officials and based on their recommendation, we made the decision to close all facilities for the two weeks following Spring Break. Students are scheduled to return to class on Monday, April 6. Click here to view recommendations related to social distancing and large group gatherings from TCPH.

Travel Reminder
As a reminder, we are asking all families and staff to please report travel to China, Iran, Italy, South Korea, Hong Kong, or Japan or most of Europe (these are all Level 3 Travel Health Notice locations as listed by the Centers for Disease Control). Please click here to fill out the online travel form. For a list of European countries included in this updated status click here.

School Operations
With school facilities being closed for the two weeks following Spring Break, we are preparing to resume instruction remotely starting Tuesday, March 24. I know this creates many questions for students and families. We will be providing more details regarding these plans later next week. Also, our Bearcat students who are eligible for free and reduced lunch will have the opportunity to receive both breakfast and lunch during the two weeks that our buildings are closed. We will be providing more details about all of this next week.

Helpful Resources
We have created an email address for parents, staff and community to send any questions or concerns during the break or during the two weeks facilities will be closed. Please email healthservices@aledoisd.org. Also, click here to visit the Aledo ISD webpage that includes helpful illness prevention tips, FAQs and all press releases from the District regarding Coronavirus (COVID-19) updates.

For now, please enjoy your spring break. As always, please let me know if you have any questions.

Truly,

Susan
