McCoy named head tennis coach at Aledo High School

Joe McCoyAledo ISD has named Joe McCoy as the new head tennis coach at Aledo High School.


McCoy is in his second stint in the Aledo ISD, having first served in the district from 1993 to 1997 as a math teacher and football, boys basketball and tennis coach. He was the Aledo High School head tennis coach during the 1996-1997 school year, and, after that, McCoy was the head tennis coach at Troup and White Oak high schools. McCoy returned to Aledo ISD in 2009 and most recently has been a special education teacher, an assistant girls basketball coach and the assistant tennis coach.


“Coach McCoy has been a tremendous asset to our Bearcats and Ladycats coaching staff no matter where he’s coached,” Aledo ISD Athletics Director Steve Wood said. “I am excited to see our tennis players and program continue to grow under Coach McCoy.”


McCoy has a bachelor of science from Texas A&M University. McCoy, who will also continue teaching special education, just completed his 16th year with the Aledo ISD and 28th year overall in education.
