The Aledo ISD will celebrate Start With Hello Week Sept. 21-25 to raise awareness about social isolation and to create a culture of inclusion in the district.
All of our campuses will have different activites throughout the week that focus on recognizing the signs of loneliness and helping other students feel included.
The Start With Hello program was started by the Sandy Hook Promise as a way to empower young people to create a culture of inclusion and connectedness within their school and community. Sandy Hook Promise is led by several family members whose loved ones were killed in the tragic mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School that claimed the lives of 20 first-graders and 6 educators. They are focused on preventing gun violence (and other forms of violence and victimization) BEFORE it happens by educating and mobilizing youth and adults on mental health and wellness programs that identify, intervene and help at-risk individuals.
