September 3: Bond 2019 Update
September 3, 2020
The Aledo ISD Board of Trustees voted on Monday to open the Competitive Sealed Proposal process for a general contractor for elementary school No. 6, and the district will accept bids starting September 8 through 2 p.m. on September 29.
The Board of Trustees also voted Monday to use the Competitive Sealed Proposal procurement method for the Vandagriff Elementary conversion and McAnally Intermediate renovation and addition projects later this fall, and the Board adopted the prevailing wage rate for Parker, Tarrant and Johnson counties for 2019 Bond program constructions projects.
The Board’s vote for the CSP came after their decision to terminate the construction contract with BTC - Buford-Thompson Company, LLC - as the general contractor on elementary school No. 6, the Vandagriff Elementary conversion and the McAnally Intermediate renovation and addition project.
During the meeting, both Aledo ISD Superintendent Dr. Susan Bohn and trustees thanked BTC for its many years of support for the district and the Aledo ISD community.
“Though we really tried to work through all the details and costs associated with elementary No. 6 with BTC, in the end we weren’t able to get on the same page,” Bohn said. “We had to take decisive action now to move forward on this project and get to the completion of elementary school no. 6.
“Our commitment is to our students and to our taxpayers and community to ensure that our projects stay in scope and budget,” Bohn said.
The architect for elementary school No. 6, which will be located along FM 5 across from Annetta Cemetery, is PBK. The project total project budget is $35,858,000 of the $149.95 million 2019 Bond that was approved by voters on Nov. 5, 2019.
