Aledo ISD Teachers empowered through learning
Aledo ISD teachers are always learning, and this summer that has turned virtual.
The district launched Empower 2020, a virtual summer professional learning academy, on June 9 with a two-day celebration. During that celebration, Aledo staff combined to complete nearly 500 courses with a total of 1,265 development hours.
“We are so proud of our teachers who continue to demonstrate their commitment to continuous improvement by engaging in their own professional learning over the summer months,” assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction Amber Crissey said. “We have approximately 50 courses and two districtwide book studies, and we have been blown away by the level of engagement from our educators so far."
Teachers were entered into drawings for gift cards and Apple Pencils for each course they completed during the two-day celebration. The winners are:

Professional learning courses are offered in a variety of areas including: content-specific strands, cross-curricular strands, digital platforms and tools, and special services. The district is also engaging in two districtwide book studies to support 2020-21 district goals: “Kids Deserve It!” by Adam Welcome and Todd Nesloney and “Blended Learning in Action” by Catlin R. Tucker, Jason T. Green, and Tiffany Wycoff.
Empower 2020 courses will be open for staff to engage in learning all summer long.
