Personal Communication Device FAQs
In compliance with Texas House Bill 1481 - the Cell Phone Ban Bill - Aledo ISD students must have cell phones, smart watches, personal tablets, Bluetooth devices (including wireless headphones, earbuds and AirPods), gaming systems, personal laptops or any other personal electronic device capable of telecommunication or digital communication put away, turned off or silenced and out of sight bell to bell during the school day.
In Aledo ISD, BELL TO BELL, NO CELL!
The intent behind House Bill 1481 is to limit distractions in the classroom and across campus so students can stay focused on learning. As a public school district, our Board of Trustees must adopt a policy that implements the law.
We want families to know that our intent is not to punish students for trying to do the right thing. We recognize that unexpected situations can happen, and we will approach those moments with common sense and care. At the same time, we are working to follow the law as required and ask for your help in supporting our students to comply.
Just as it is to our students and families, this law is new to us, so we appreciate your understanding as we could revise and/or refine our practices and processes throughout the year to make them better. Don’t worry - if there are any changes that need to be made, we’ll let you know with plenty of heads up!
