4 p.m. on Wednesday, August 7: Bus transportation registration deadline for students utilizing bus transportation the first week of school.

4 p.m. on Friday, August 9: Registration deadline to guarantee a teacher assignment/schedule on the first day of school; we will not be able to register any students on the first day of school due to the demands and challenges associated with the first day; registration will resume the second day of school, August 15.

Registration for bus transportation is completed during the school registration process this year. However, if you missed registering your student or need to update your bus registration, you may still access that through the Ascender Parent Portal at any time.

It is important when you are registering that you enter your address correctly with Street, Lane, Road, Way, etc. Please only register once, and please take the time to go over the 2024-2025 Transportation Handbook for Students and Parents with your student(s).

Transportation Deadlines

Please remember these important Transportation deadlines:

• The bus transportation registration deadline for students utilizing bus transportation the first week of school (August 14-16) will be on Wednesday, August 7.

• Any registration after August 7 means your student may begin riding the bus on Monday, August 19.

• Registering your student on or after August 19 requires three business days before they may begin riding the bus.

Please remember that whenever you register your child for bus transportation, they will be in the routing system and assigned a bus only after three full business days have passed.

Bus Tracking/Information

Please download the Versatrans MyStop app to track your students’ bus location and arrival times as well as to receive notifications on delays or other pertinent information.

School hours will remain the same for the 2024-2025 school year:

Elementary/Early Childhood Academy (PK-5):

• 7:30 AM first bell
• 7:40 AM tardy bell
• 3:10 PM dismissal

Secondary (6-12):

• 8:30 AM first bell
• 8:40 AM tardy bell
• 4:10 PM dismissal

If your student is entering grades 9-12, teachers will give a list of supplies needed during the first week of school. Sending your student with paper and a pencil/pen on the first day should suffice until you get further instructions from teachers.

Aledo ISD partners with Camp Fire for after-school programs at each elementary school. Please visit the Camp Fire website for more information and to register your student. 

Students in grades PK-5 will not be issued a Chromebook; devices will be stored in classrooms for students to use.

For students in grades 6-12, we distribute devices at each campus once school starts. While students in grades 6-12 may bring their own device, we very highly recommend they check out and use a district Chromebook. There are some learning and assessment activities that require a district Chromebook (see chart below for other comparisons). 

New this year: Students who would like to check out a district-issued Chromebook must sign up for the district’s device protection plan. This plan is $25 and covers unlimited breakage on the Chromebook; the charger is not covered.

IMPORTANT: Students with outstanding device fees WILL NOT be reissued a device until their fees have been paid. Log in to your InTouch account to see if you have any outstanding fees and also to pay those outstanding fees. If your student has an outstanding technology fee, this would have also been communicated with you via a mailed letter at the end of last school year.

One of the best parts of being a Bearcat is the amount of community support we have, and VOLUNTEERING is a huge part of that! We are grateful for all of our parent volunteers and want to remind you that, each year, all volunteers must complete a Volunteer Background Check as well as safety training on each campus where they volunteer in order to begin volunteering. Don't forget that a background check and volunteer training also must be completed for parents/guardians to go on field trips!Each campus will communicate times, dates and places for their volunteer safety training.

Mentoring/Volunteering/Serving on Committees in Aledo ISD

Please find a way to get involved in our schools and district! We are always seeking caring and fun mentors for our students of all ages - we'd love to have you serve our students in this way!

There are several district and campus committees where parent and community participation is vital. Please take the time to review the committees listed on this form. If you find a committee or committees that are of interest to you, please complete the form by 4 p.m. on Friday, August 23. There are time commitments involved in each of these committees and your full participation is very important.

Each Aledo ISD campus serves breakfast and lunch daily in the cafeteria. AISD utilizes MySchoolBucks as a prepaid meal account for students. Also, it is time to apply for free or reduced-price meals for those who qualify based on financial need or household situation. All students who qualify for reduced-price meals will receive breakfast daily for free. Apply at www.schoollunchapp.com for free and reduced-price meal benefits; you must submit an application each year.

It is important that you keep your email address and phone number(s) up to date with the district so that you receive communications from the district and from your campus. The district communicates mostly via email and text message; teachers communicate with parents via the Remind app and/or email.

If at any point during the school year your phone number and/or email address change, please let your campus PEIMS clerk know so they can update it!

Once schedules and teacher assignments are released, we will add class information to Remind so that you are automatically added to the correct classes for your student(s). Visit this site to learn how to get started in Remind.

All student-athletes in grades 7-12 (including cheer and dance) and all grade 9-12 marching band participants must have a physical completed before practices begin.

All student-athletes in grades 7-12 must also have all forms completed in Rank One before beginning practices or participation in an athletics class period. Any 7-12th-grade student-athletes new to Aledo must email Troy Little (tlittle@aledoisd.org) so he can create a profile for the student-athlete in Rank One.

Athletics Fees for 2024-2025

Aledo ISD will be instituting an athletics participation fee for all student-athletes in grades 7-12 who participate on an athletics team at AMS, MMS or AHS-DNG beginning in the 2024-2025 school year. This fee will be used to offset athletic expenses in the general fund budget such as equipment and uniforms; this is a practice the district used in the recent past.

Fees will be paid online at the beginning of the season after the student-athlete makes a team, and, if your student-athlete competes in more than one sport, they will only pay the fee once. If they compete in a sport that only meets before/after school, fees will be due prior to the first competition. We also have discounts for families with multiple student-athletes.

Athletic Participation Fees are as follows:

• $100 per student-athlete per year (participation in multiple sports does not increase this fee)
• Families with two student-athletes - $100 for first student-athlete; $50 for one additional student-athlete
• Families with more than two student-athletes - $100 for the first student-athlete; $75 for two or more additional athletes. No family will pay more than $175.
• Your coach will communicate to you how to make your payment after teams have been formed.
• If you need financial assistance with the athletics participation fee, please reach out to your school counselor.

Immunization Requirements

Please visit the Texas Department of State Health Services for information about immunization requirements for schools for the 2024-2025 school year. Please also contact the nurse for your child’s school if you have any questions or need to provide medication or other medical information for your child for the school year

Now is a great time to get registered for Bearcat Care Clinics in partnership with the Parker County Hospital District on each of our campuses. This service saves our parents and staff valuable time as they allow Aledo ISD families and staff the ability to receive telemedicine care onsite at each campus. School nurses will be present with students and parents can attend the appointment in person or remotely. Using telemedicine and a Medpod Medical Cart in the nurse’s office at each Aledo ISD campus, students and staff will have access to visit with Steven Welch, DO, the chief medical officer for the Parker County Hospital District and local health authority for Parker County. Aledo ISD school nurses can, if recommended by Dr. Welch, administer flu, strep or rapid COVID-19 tests and then Dr. Welch can prescribe medication, if necessary.

Aledo Bond 2023 projects have made incredible progress over summer break, and we want to give you some information on how those projects may affect traffic and traffic patterns this school year.

Aledo High School-Daniel Ninth Grade Campus

Throughout the Fall semester as the AHS Ag Barn and Steve Wood Complex each undergo construction, the drive that runs from the Aledo Learning Center to the Steve Wood Complex (near the AHS Ag Building and AHS tennis courts) is closed to all traffic, including foot traffic. In addition, the parking lot directly west of the AHS tennis courts is unavailable at this time due to construction staging.

McAnally Middle School/McKinney Elementary

We are excited to open McKinney Elementary - the district's seventh elementary school and the largest project in the Bond 2023 proposal - in August! Much more specific information and maps for school drop-off and pickup were sent to families with students at McAnally and McKinney (read that here), but it is important to know that:

• There is no regular bus service from the Morningstar neighborhood to McKinney Elementary. The only bus service to this campus will be one or two special education buses.

• The bridge connecting the McKinney and McAnally campuses is available for foot or bicycle traffic only (with the exception of emergency vehicles, as needed) and will be closed to all vehicular traffic at all times.
