Class of 2024 Graduation
Class of 2024
Aledo High School Class of 2024 Graduation
8:30 p.m. • Friday, May 24 • Tim Buchanan Stadium
Important Graduation Ceremony Information
We have been watching the weather and looking at the forecast that shows some potential rain showers right up until our Class of 2024 graduation ceremonies which are set to begin at 8 p.m. With that forecast in mind - and with the Aledo area currently under a severe thunderstorm watch - we are delaying the start of graduation to 8:30 p.m. tonight, Friday, May 24, 2024, at Tim Buchanan Stadium.
Graduates will need to arrive at the AHS Gym at 7:15 p.m., and the gates will open for guests at 7:30 p.m.
Our goal is to get through graduation tonight, and hopefully, the weather will cooperate, but please know that we will make decisions that are in the best interest of safety for all involved! Here are some things you need to know:
What if there is severe weather tonight after we have arrived?
If there is lightning within 10 miles of Buchanan Stadium at any point tonight before or during the ceremonies, we will implement our evacuation procedure for Tim Buchanan Stadium. At that time, we will announce that we need to clear the stadium, meaning all spectators will be required to return to their cars. Graduates will be taken back into the high school gym.
If this happens, we will communicate further information via text, email and school district social media (facebook.com/aledoisd and x.com/AledoISD).
What if we cannot start and/or complete the graduation ceremonies tonight?
If we have to cancel or postpone the graduation ceremony, we will begin/resume at 9 a.m. on Saturday, May 25, 2024. We realize this is NOT one of the originally communicated plans, however, tomorrow night’s forecast shows similar weather patterns as what we are seeing tonight. We do not want to have to delay a second time, and the weather looks clear for Saturday morning! If we have to delay until Saturday morning, graduates will need to arrive at 7:45 a.m. and gates will open at 8 a.m.
What can I bring into the stadium?
There is NOT a clear bag policy at Tim Buchanan Stadium for graduation. Umbrellas, seat cushions, stadium seats, towels, etc., are allowable. You may also bring in water; however, water will be on sale at the concession stands, operated as a fundraiser by the Class of 2025.

Graduate Attire & Cap Decorating
Each graduate is required to wear a black graduation gown with the Aledo Logo on the sleeve and a black graduation cap. If you still have not secured your cap and gown, contact Herff Jones at 817.244.4645 to place your order. Cap and gowns were delivered by Herff Jones during lunches on Thursday, April 5.
Consistent with past practice, Aledo High School students are not permitted to adorn the gown; the only items permitted with the gown are those provided by Aledo High School.
Additionally, gentlemen should wear dark slacks or khakis and a collared shirt. Ladies should wear slacks, a skirt and blouse, or a dress. They should also consider not wearing heels as they will stick in the turf while they are walking. Also consider lighter fabrics since the event will be held outdoors.
In keeping with AHS Tradition, graduates are allowed to decorate their graduation cap. Graduation caps will be reviewed and approved in advance of the ceremony and all school rules apply.
Review Cap Decorating Guidelines Here.
