Ms. Mackenzie McLellan
My name is Mackenzie McLellan, and I teach ESL for grades 9-12. I strive to help our students develop their English language skills to the point where they communicate in English as well as they do their first language building on and developing the incredible strength and opportunity to be multilingual. Being able to communicate in two different languages (or more) is an asset students will be able to use daily and in their future careers to great success. It is a unique asset that will benefit and add to their repertoire of skills as they continue on to their post-secondary lives.
I am a graduate of Tarleton State University where I earned my B.A. in English and Literature and minored in Spanish. During my college years, I was able to study abroad in Spain where my passion was sparked for both learning another language and studying how languages are learned. 6 years after graduating and teaching English at a few schools in north Texas, I traveled back to Spain where I obtained my TEFL certification and lived in Madrid for a year teaching English as a language to students aging from 4 years old to 64 years old. I'm delighted to be a part of Aledo ISD this year serving students at the high school and ninth grade campus!
