Mrs. Julie Choate

Principal

Welcome to the 2020-2021 McCall Family! My name is Julie Choate, and I am honored to serve as the Principal and Lead Learner of the finest "teachers of world-changers" ever! This year marks the beginning of my 29th year in service to public education, and it is my passion. It is my firm belief that you will find our school to be one of the finest around. We pride ourselves in maintaining a family feeling toward everyone - students, parents, and community members alike. We decided in the spring of 2008 when we were making plans to open in the fall that we wanted McCall to be the place we would want our personal children to attend, and many do and have, including my own. McCall is my home away from home, and this marks the 13th year that I have served children and families here, 9 as the Assistant Principal and this begins my 4th year to serve as the Principal.

Speaking of children, my family is extremely important to me. I have been married to my hubby, Bryan Choate, for over 26 years, and we have two great kiddos - our son, Ben, who graduated from Aledo High School in 2019, and our daughter, Brittin, who is a junior at AHS this year. We are active in our church family and we love to get together with friends. I am an avid Dallas Cowboys fan, which I have been since the mid 1970s. I call Brownwood (central Texas) my hometown and graduated from Brownwood High School and Howard Payne University there. I received my Master's degree from Dallas Baptist University.

Please reach out to me, our office staff, or your child's teacher if you have any questions or concerns. We are here to serve YOU! Communication is key, and we try to communicate early and often so that information is received in plenty of time.  Please follow McCall Elementary on Facebook at https://goo.gl/KWDppg.  Also, I periodically tweet things out on our campus Twitter account at https://twitter.com/McCallAISD. Follow #mccallfamily and #growinggreatness to see the good things happening, too!

In conclusion, our campus theme is "Grace Changes Everything." I found the following definition, and it really spoke to me regarding how we treat each other, no matter what the age.

Grace: The exercise of love, kindness, compassion, mercy, favor; disposition to benefit or serve another

I will periodically need some grace from you, and I will extend grace, as well. In that way, we can always keep the main thing the main thing - educating your children every day. The last sentence of our student pledge reads, "What begins here changes the world." I believe that with all my heart. Will you join me?

I'm looking forward to a fantastic 2020-2021, no matter what happens!!

Embracing Grace,

Julie Choate
