Aledo ISD Special Olympics

On March 4, our district will participate in Spread the Word, a national initiative that promotes inclusion, acceptance, and respect for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This day is an opportunity to celebrate differences, amplify student voices, and reinforce our shared commitment to inclusive school communities.

What can you do now: Go ahead support this effort by taking the Pledge for Inclusion, committing to actions that promote respect, understanding, and belonging for all. The pledge is available through Special Olympics at:

Here are a few inclusive options that you can use. Pick one that fits you or create your own!

• I pledge to spread inclusion by treating everyone with kindness, using respectful language, and understanding students with disabilities.
• I pledge to spread inclusion by welcoming differences, speaking up against hurtful words or actions, and making sure all students with disabilities feel they belong.
• I pledge to spread inclusion by being respectful, inclusive in my words and actions, and supportive of all students with disabilities.
• I pledge to spread inclusion by learning about different disabilities and conditions, celebrating differences, and choosing empathy every day.

More information will be shared soon with campuses, including suggested activities and ways students and staff can participate and show their support. We look forward to coming together across the district to spread kindness, understanding, and inclusion.
