Aledo ISD Gifted & Talented

To refer your student for gifted services, please contact the GT Specialist for your child’s school. Requests made after a referral window will be honored during the next available window.

Referral Windows:

• August: New enrollees
• November: Grades 1-5
• January: All Kindergarten students will automatically be screened, unless parents opt out.
• April: Grades K-4 (Qualifying students will begin services next school year. Parents of 5th grade students, please follow Secondary Testing procedures below.)

In Aledo ISD, students in grades K-5 are served through a weekly pull-out enrichment program while students in grades 6-12 are serviced through Advanced Academics. Although Aledo ISD has a preschool program, students are eligible for GT services the Spring semester of their kindergarten year.

In grades K-5, students receive GT services weekly. The length of GT sessions increases with your child’s grade level and academic stamina. Please reference our GT Schedule above.

Be rest assured your child receives support, challenge, and a wide range of experiences that will maximize learning while enrolled in Aledo ISD. All teachers have received 30 hours of gifted and talented professional development and will continue to differentiate content to ensure appropriately challenging depth and complexity and employ strategies such as flexible pacing and grouping, tiered instruction, and extension activities.

Due to the nature of programming and qualification differences throughout different states and districts, students do not automatically transfer into Aledo ISD’s GT program. Upon receiving your students’ paperwork from their previous district, our GT Department will review and reassess your child for gifted services. Referral paperwork must still be completed for all students seeking gifted admittance in Aledo ISD.

Students of active military families who were in GT programs at their previous schools will automatically be accepted into the AISD GT program as required by the Interstate Compact on Educational Opportunities for Military Children upon verification of records.
