Partnering With Parents
Library Book Notifications
Aledo ISD parents and guardians will receive a daily email report listing any library books their child has checked out. These notifications are designed to keep families informed and engaged in their child’s reading activity.
Parents or guardians who wish to stop receiving these notifications can unsubscribe using the link included in the notification email.
If you are not receiving daily library book notifications and believe you should be, please contact your child’s campus administration for assistance.
Library Book Preferences
Aledo ISD parents or guardians may submit to the principal a list of library materials from the campus library catalog that their child shall not be allowed to check out or access for use outside of the school library.
To request specific book titles be prohibited for your child, please use this link to submit your request.
Aledo ISD is committed to providing transparent, family-centered access to library materials. This process offers families the opportunity to make informed decisions about what their child reads, while maintaining equitable access to information for all students.
Catalog Access
A parent or guardian who wishes to access a school's library shall first submit a request to the principal. The principal shall work with the parent or guardian to determine a time to access the library that will not interfere with the delivery of instruction or disrupt student use of library services. Please use this link to submit your request.
Book Preview List
Per Policy EFB (Local), all new library book purchases must be listed for community preview at least 30 days before appearing on library shelves. Aledo ISD will list the intended purchases 30 days before the Board of Trustees approves their purchase. A link will be provided below when the book preview list is ready for public view.
Complaints & Concerns
Step 1: Contact involved individual
Most complaints and concerns can be resolved informally by contacting the campus or meeting with the involved individual (teacher or librarian).
Step 2: Contact campus administrator
If a complaint or concern is unable to be resolved through a conversation between the involved individuals, campus administrators are equipped to help facilitate a resolution.
Step 3: Contact district administrator
If a campus administrator has been unable to resolve the concern, parents or students should contact the Curriculum & Instruction Department at library@aledoisd.org.
Library Materials Challenge
Under Texas Education Code (TEC) §33.027, a parent, district employee, or person residing in a school district may submit a written challenge to any library material in a school's library catalog. To submit a written challenge, an eligible individual must complete and submit the Library Challenge Form. The form can be hand-delivered to the AISD Central Administration Building at 1008 Bailey Ranch Road, or submitted via email to library@aledoisdisd.org.
