March 2026 Bearcats of Character Recognized

The Aledo ISD Board of Trustees recognized this latest group of students named Bearcats of Character for the 2025-2026 school year on Monday, March 23, 2026 for the character trait HUMILITY.

According to the Positivity Project, humility and modesty are often characterized as synonymous with shy or meek. This is false. True humility is a sign of strength; it is a quiet confidence in who you are. It requires an honest self-reflection on your strengths and weaknesses, and self-control over ego, arrogance, and vanity. It encapsulates a person’s feelings, thoughts, and actions. It includes resistance to false modesty or the “humble brag.”

Congratulations to the following students, Aledo ISD's March 2026 Bearcats of Character!

Aledo High School: Isaac Brooks, 11th Grade
Isaac Brooks should be nominated for the character strength of humility because he consistently puts others before himself and never seeks attention for the good things he does. He is the kind of person who helps simply because it is the right thing to do, not because he wants recognition or praise. Even when others notice his efforts and compliment him, he stays grounded and does not let the attention change how he treats people. Isaac treats everyone with respect and kindness, no matter who they are. He listens to others, values their opinions, and makes people feel appreciated. Rather than trying to stand out or prove himself, he leads by quiet example. His actions speak louder than words, showing that true leadership does not require boasting or showing off. Through his selfless attitude and steady character, Isaac demonstrates genuine humility in both big and small moments.

Aledo Learning Center: Tyler Puniwai-Baker, 11th Grade
Tyler is a quiet, respectful, and polite student with an unassuming personality who is consistently kind, patient, gracious, and friendly toward others. He actively seeks feedback, values understanding over simply being right, and treats mistakes as opportunities to grow by asking thoughtful questions and engaging in meaningful discussions about his learning. Tyler also contributes to a supportive and respectful environment by offering help without seeking recognition and approaching every challenge with humility and a desire to improve.

Daniel Ninth Grade: Lucia Stooksberry, 9th Grade
Lucia clearly shows the character strength of humility in the way she carries herself every day. She is consistently modest and respectful toward others, never seeking attention or praise for herself. Even when she does something kind or helpful, she does not brag or act prideful. Instead, she quietly supports those around her and is always willing to lend a helping hand. Her humility is also reflected in her kindness. Lucia treats everyone with respect and values others without trying to put herself above them. She does not boast about her accomplishments or draw attention to her good deeds. Through her modest attitude and genuine care for others, Lucia demonstrates true humility in both her words and actions.

Aledo Middle School: Caleb Altendorf, 8th Grade
Caleb consistently demonstrates humility through his willingness to take in feedback and immediately apply it to improve his work. He approaches learning with an open mindset and never becomes defensive when given guidance. In addition, Caleb works hard to help others, offering support and encouragement without expecting recognition. His openness to growth and selfless attitude make him a positive influence on those around him and a strong example of what it means to be a Bearcat of Character.

McAnally Middle School: Kaydence Ferguson, 6th Grade
Kaydence consistently demonstrates humility through her willingness to grow and learn each day. She accepts feedback with a positive attitude, listens thoughtfully, and isn’t afraid to ask for help when she needs it. Kaydence reflects on her mistakes and uses them as opportunities to improve, showing maturity beyond her years. She values the perspectives of her classmates, treats others with kindness and respect, and remains grounded and gracious in all situations. Congratulations, Kaydence!

Aledo ISD Early Childhood Academy: Eleanor Hash, Pre-K
Eleanor is my nominee this month for the character trait of humility. She consistently shows kindness and grace in everything she does. Eleanor is a thoughtful friend who listens to others, lifts up her classmates, and never seeks attention for herself. Her quiet confidence and genuine care for those around her make our classroom a better place. We are all so fortunate to have Eleanor as a friend and classmate.

Annetta Elementary School: Emily Huwel, 5th Grade
Emily embodies humility everyday in our class room.  Her classmates say: she never brags when she does things better than I do, she will help you without putting you down or making you feel embarrassed, she knows that everyone is perfect just the way they are, and she is always happy about other's accomplishments.

Coder Elementary School: Monroe Summersett, 2nd Grade
Monroe is our Student of the Month for Humility because she is consistently kind and sweet to everyone around her. She never complains and approaches each day with a positive, thankful attitude. Monroe quietly does the right thing, shows respect to others, and is always willing to help without seeking attention

McCall Elementary School: Braden Steenbakkers, 4th Grade
Braden models humility from the moment he walks into the classroom each day. He's always looking for ways to set an example for others without ever bringing the spotlight on himself. In class discussion, he politely raises his hand and shares his ideas with courage and a humble spirit. I absolutely love this about him, as he has no idea how much others value his thoughts and opinions. In small group he stays focused on the tasks at hand without ever feeling the need to be "the boss." When it's time to leave the classroom, I can always trust him to set the standard of being quiet, facing forward, and being a LEADer in the hallways. Lastly he ends the day, looking for ways to help clean up pencils, organize materials bins, and simply leave the room neater than when he first came in. I've never heard him bring any attention to himself, yet my attention is always on him with gratitude and joy!

McKinney Elementary School: Julianna Hughes, 5th Grade
Julianna consistently works hard and sets high goals for herself, and she reaches them with dedication and focus. She performs at a high level in many areas, yet remains humble, kind, and grounded. Her quiet confidence and willingness to let her actions speak for themselves make her a wonderful example of true humility.

Stuard Elementary School: Luca Antenucci, 5th Grade
Luca is equally as sweet as she is humble. She is always working hard and trying her best, even when no one is looking. We love her for her humility, but also just the person she is. This is why we nominate Luca for student of the month for the trait of humility.

Vandagriff Elementary School: Callan Chapman, 5th Grade
Callan shows true humility in the way he approaches school and friendships each day. When he succeeds, he stays modest, gives credit to others, and looks for ways to keep improving. His quiet confidence and willingness to learn from mistakes make him a strong example of the character trait humility. Callan’s humble attitude makes him a respectful friend and a positive role model for his classmates. We are SO thankful for Callan.

Walsh Elementary School: Kyler Paiz, 1st Grade
Kyler demonstrates humility each day by giving his best effort and letting his actions speak for themselves. He accepts feedback with a positive and open heart and is always eager to learn and grow. Kyler is confident without bragging and shows kindness and respect to those around him. He is quick to help classmates in need, encourages others, and celebrates their successes as if they were his own. Through his quiet leadership, strong character, and genuine love of learning, Kyler makes our classroom a better place and serves as a wonderful role model for everyone. We are so lucky to call him ours!
