District of Champions
The University Interscholastic League announced Aledo High School as the winner of the 2025 Lone Star Cup for Class 5A Tuesday, culminating an incredible year in academics, fine arts and athletics for the Bearcats.
The UIL Lone Star Cup is awarded annually to six high schools, one in each of the six UIL classifications, based on their team performance in district and state championships. Aledo High School earned 104 points to beat out 193 other Class 5A schools. The 104 points were the fourth-most among all six classifications combined.
“The 2024-2025 school year was incredible for our Aledo High School extracurricular programs,” AHS-DNG Principal Michael Martinak said. “I got to witness the long hours and hard work put in by all of these students with the support of their coaches and sponsors, and it’s rewarding to see their dedication and perseverance get recognized like this. Congratulations to our entire student body, staff and community.”
Standings for the UIL Lone Star Cup are compiled via a year-long accumulation of points based on team success at the district and state level. The winning schools in each classification will receive the UIL Lone Star Cup trophy and a $1,000 scholarship.
