Ms. Shannon Bourland
Welcome to the Coder Counselor's page! This is my first year as counselor at Coder Elementary; however, it's my 25th year in public education. I taught for 13 years prior to becoming a counselor which included 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th grades. My most recent experience was as a school counselor with Godley ISD for 11 years. My son and daughter who are 6 and 8 attend Coder as well. We are all excited to be here and join the Coder family!
My passion is seeing your child thrive emotionally and socially so they can be successful in ALL areas of life. In addition to offering character and SEL guidance lessons to all classes PK-5th, I will provide short-term individual and small group counseling for students who have identified needs.
My goal is to be a visible and tangible presence in our students' lives here at Coder Elementary. I also work closely with the teachers, staff and administrators to ensure the mental health of our students is a priority. Parent communication is always welcome should you have questions or concerns.
