Welcome to the Aledo High School Library Webpage!

A Summa Cum Laude graduate of Texas Christian University, I hold a Bachelor of Arts in English and Philosophy, as well as a Master of Education in Secondary Education.  I am a current graduate student in the Information Sciences program at the University of North Texas.  I am so excited to be both studying information science and working in the library at the same time which will allow me to teach students the most current technology and facilitate up-to-date inquiry-based learning.

Working in the library has been a longtime dream of mine.  I began my career behind the scenes learning how books are made in the publishing world.  Before becoming a teacher I worked for Harcourt Brace College Publishers and interned in the Publications Department at the Amon Carter Museum in Fort Worth. I have enjoyed 23 years teaching English Language Arts (17 as an AHS Bearcat) and can't wait to reach even more students through the library!  I also think it would be fun to author a book that is carried by many libraries someday!

It is such an exciting time for the AHS library too!  This summer we have been working on a new Makerspace for students, so all students, enrolled in STEM or not, have access to discovery learning through the Makerspace.  Some different stations in the Makerspace will include crafting, woodwork, engineering, and technology.  Students will take a brief Canvas course before working in the Makerspace to ensure proper use of its different components.  Teachers will also be invited to bring small groups to the Makerspace.

As always, we are excited about READING and partnering with the English classes as we implement more independent reading.  We encourage students to come in and browse through our new arrivals or access the Destiny Discover Database through Classlinks.  Just click on the icon on the Classlinks page titled: Library-High School.

Hope to see you in the Library soon!
